For those committed to permanently quitting the habit, stop smoking hypnotherapy is now widely accepted as an effective and painless way to quit, and is recommended by the World Health Organisation. Research comparing many different studies of hypnotherapy has shown that on average, smokers are over five times more likely to break the habit with hypnosis than by willpower alone. Hypnotherapy in general is also proven to be more than twice as effective as nicotine gum.

Stopping smoking is renown for being a difficult, uncomfortable, often unsuccessful experience. Let me explain why this might be; our smoking behaviours are typically unconscious, automatic patterns of behaviour that have become established over time. The unconscious mind, through practise, assumes that these smoking behaviours (clearly not beneficial at a physical level) are comfortable for us and, in order to maintain an inner harmony and minimise discomfort, it expects smoking to continue. So, when a person tries to quit at a conscious/will-power level, feelings of conflict often result because the unconscious mind is not experiencing what it expects. Individuals typically become uncomfortable, restless, irritable, fixated and stressed. So, to become comfortable again, the individual quickly reverts to old ways.

But, hypnosis can melt away this conflict, enhancing motivation to stop smoking, helping to override old patterns of behaviour, and rapidly establish new, responsible, more positive approaches to those old trigger situations.

Echelon Associates Hypnotherapy Practice does not offer a one-off stop smoking hypnosis session. Rather, we offer a series of powerful stop smoking hypnotherapy sessions in which a holistic approach is taken to helping people overcome the habit, boosting motivation, confidence and self-esteem along the way. We identify and address the root causes of individual smoking behaviours to build understanding, and then apply simple therapeutic techniques to re-programme the mind and body to develop the means to deal effectively with specific trigger situations, to relieve withdrawal and to heal the body. The number of sessions required will vary depending on individual needs; this is something that will be discussed at the initial consultation.

Given a strong desire to quit, stop smoking hypnotherapy can help you become and remain a non-smoker.

To support and reinforce the stop smoking hypnotherapy programme, clients will receive Christine Woolfenden's complimentary 'being a non-smoker' hypnosis CD.
